An old Turkish (Anatolian or Asia Minor) variety, spelt as Akça. Harvest period is the end of July. When ripe it drops easily and does not hang on the tree long.
Small fruit approx 6cm long and weight of 60g. Fruit skin is green, thin and gets green-yellow colour towards eating maturity. Fruit flesh is white, medium juicy and relatively sweet. Fruit does not store.
Considering Akca is the earliest variety of pear for the season, it is an excellent start to the pear season.
