Pear - Rocha seedling - Scion
It is sweet and fragrant with white flesh. Normally eaten when crisp, but becomes soft as it ripens. It is harvested in September. Does not conform to the POD - On trial
The original Rocha has traditionally been restricted to a unique, small area of Portugal, north of Lisbon. The original variety was probably a chance seedling, discovered in 1836 by Mr. Pedro António Rocha on his farm in the region of Sintra.
However we believe that the shape does not conform to the POD description - On trial in our orchard.
It is small to medium-sized and is sweet and fragrant with white flesh. Normally eaten when crisp, but becomes soft as it ripens. It is harvested in September.
