The Warren pear was named for Thomas O. Warren, who discovered it in Mississippi, USA, in 1976.
They are medium to large fruits and are much sought after for their soft, juicy texture and complex taste with no grit. Some say the taste is sweet and has floral flavour with honeyed notes of vanilla, spice, guava, and pineapple.
They are green skinned turning to yellow with brown shades with a red blush when mature.
It is regarded as producing large quantities of pollen, suitable for pollination of other European pear trees.
