A chance seedling discovered in France and introduced by the French nurseryman Masset of Oullins in 1860. Fruits are very large and juicy with a sweet and excellent flavour.
This is one of the earliest gages of the season, the fruits tend to be very large and rounded, with a green skin turning yellow when ripe.
