Thought to have been raised near Washington, Warren County, New Jersey, USA. Brought to Tompkins County, New York in 1804 by Jacob Wycoff who named it King. It was renamed King of Tompkins County in about 1855. Fruits have somewhat soft, slightly juicy flesh with a sweet and good aromatic flavour.
