The apple is yellow with flaming red stripes on the sunny side, when fully ripe. Juicy flesh with a pleasant mixture of sweetness and acidity with a distinctive flavour. The taste vary greatly after picking time, habitat and storage.
Apples - In Germany and Sweden called apple "Grave Steiner" in Norway, England and America "Gravenstein" and in Denmark used the name Gråsten now because the trees originally came from the town of Gråsten in Southeast Jutland. It is thought to have arrived in Denmark in about 1669
